About the LIC AAO exam

LIC AAO recruits Assistant Administrative Officers, the entry grade of the Life Insurance Corporation’s officer cadre. AAOs supervise staff and make decisions on proposals, policies, claims and accounts. The Generalist post, which these guides focus on, needs a degree in any discipline. LIC also recruits specialist AAOs in fields such as CA, legal and actuarial work. Expect your first long posting to be in a small-town branch outside your home zone.

Selection runs through an online prelims, an online mains and an interview. The prelims tests reasoning, quant and English, but English is only qualifying, so shortlisting rests on 70 marks. The mains has 300 objective marks across reasoning, general knowledge, data analysis and insurance and financial market awareness. It is followed by a typed English descriptive test that you only have to clear. The final list adds the mains to a 60-mark interview, out of 360, and every section has its own minimum mark.
